Compliance is not always competence.
Leaders that cast a vision that no one else can see are often casting a limited and self serving vision. Controlling leaders are often seeing the vision in a very limited and self serving scope. They can’t see past their own way. This eliminates possibilities outside of what they can imagine that could accomplish the outcomes everyone is aiming at. They may judge others with incompetence because they are not willing to trust others with alternative methods. If it’s not the controlling leaders way, then it is wrong and therefore proves why the team can’t be trusted with choosing their method. If compliance is mistaken for competence, you might be a controlling leader.
