A State of Deprivation Changes Who We Are

Deprivation is a state that actually changes how we think about everything. When I am hungry I am not myself. I get angry. When I get anxious I get impatient. When I am thirsty I cannot focus on anything except water. Deprivation robs a team of the ability to pursue goals because it creates a sense of urgency for things like water, attention, food, or any other resources. We treat people differently based on our state of deprivation. Things become expedient in light of what we need and we change our values and priorities in order to meet those needs. It’s human nature or it’s the chemicals that control our brains subconsciously, but we can prepare so that we can avoid the distraction of deprivation.
