The Wrong Time for Sentiment

As great as our sentimental thoughts make us feel there is a time to put them away. Sentiment is great for reflection and appreciation but is terrible for decision making. Decisions made for sentimental reasons usually hold onto the past for far too long. Sentiment is great for remembering but for that same reason it makes moving forward that much more difficult. It’s why we have garages full of old stuff that has sentimental value. It’s why we struggle with seeing the good in change. It’s why we give those who we have grown to care for a pass when we should hold them accountable. Sentiment was for yesterday so give yourself permission to take that gift back to the store. No need to hold onto it for sentimental reasons.
