The Right Kind of Favoritism
I am of the opinion that all leaders have favorites. It’s those who respond appropriately to accountability. If someone plays by the team rules and expects and appreciates feedback, they will be treated with more favor than those who resist the leadership and team accountability at every turn. Great teammates cheer when another great teammate does well and is rewarded for it. I am always amazed at those who seem to think it is their role on the team to constantly make the life of the team and its leader more difficult and are surprised when they are not treated the same as those who choose to belong.
