Correct in the film room, not on the field.
There is a time and place for everything. Great teams understand that correction is better left for the film room. Anyone who has played football will tell you that it is far better to be encouraged by a coach and teammate on the field after a very public mistake. We must resist the urge to harshly correct a teammate in the moment of a muffed punt or missed tackle. This allows the teammate that made a mistake to get their head back into the game for the short term. There will be plenty of time the next day at practice to make the necessary corrections when the film is studied. We will all be better for it if we can expect correction when we make a mistake but expect to encourage others when they make a mistake.
