Reasonable Expectations

Expectations breed frustration. Teams or teammates that are easily frustrated probably have unrealistic expectations. This comes from a lack of experience in achievement. This also has a lot to do with the whole “rich get richer” observation. Teams that have experienced winning have also experienced what it takes to win. They understand how difficult it is and have a reasonable expectation for what it will take to continue to win. Teams that haven’t cracked the code on winning are often frustrated with the results of their effort. Having not experienced what it takes to win, they have set the bar for their effort much lower and are disappointed when that limited effort doesn’t produce a winning result. Winning takes more effort than most teams realize. That’s why so few win consistently and why those that do win tend to dominate the others over time. Setting reasonable expectations requires experience and appreciation for the process of a desired result.
