The world we live in has become a flurry of text messages and social media tends to replace much of our communication. This can seem more efficient. Why spend an hour on the phone with one person when we can post a message to all our friends online? It’s this sentiment that can sometimes cause us to underestimate the power of a face to face interaction. Communication through text alone is often devoid of the intended emotion. How much distraction and dysfunction can be avoided if we relied more on face to face interactions instead of an email, text or instant message? Text communication has its place but it shouldn’t be the default.
