The Loud Minority

It is true that most people dislike disagreeing and will likely avoid doing so. There are some personalities however that have learned that the squeaky wheel gets the oil. They actually believe that complaining is the way to make things happen. There are two dangers in this line of thinking:

1) When the complaint is repeated, the team begins to believe everyone shares the view of the complainer.
2) When the team believes the complaint is pervasive, its level of importance increases whether it actually should or not.

When a loud minority creates the illusion of a false consensus, decisions can be made that please a small minority but offend the silent majority. The team will never be aware of this reality because of the nature of those involved.

  1. It’s time for the majority to be heard. Christian or not. Vote!
